Types Of Safes

There are several types available, each having their own advantages over the other. These types include home safes, gun safes, deposit safes, wall safes, and high security bank rated safes (TL15 - TL30).

Fireproof safes are designed to protect important documents/valuables against the high heat from a fire and include additional fire retardant materials. Although most burglary rated safes will have some protection from a fire, their main purpose is to protect your valuables from unauthorized entry by having thick locking bolts and solid steel plate doors for protection.

Yes, home safes are suitable for storing documents, jewelry, and other valuables.

Safe Locking Mechanisms

The common locks for safes include combination, key, electronic, and biometric (fingerprint) locks. Note: Heavy Metal Gun Safes does not currently offer biometric locks.

Both can be secure and each have their own advantages over the other. Mechanical combination locks are the more traditional style and do not require a battery for operation. Mechanical locks do however take practice to get the sequence entered in efficiently and correctly. Electronic locks on the other hand do have a battery to operate (located on the outside of the safe) but offer quick ease of access when unlocking.

Yes, most safes allow you to change the combination or electronic code. If you need assistance in changing the combination to your safe, give our office a call and we will schedule a technician to come and assist you.

Contact the safe manufacturer directly. Proof of purchase and the serial number of the safe will need to be provided before any combinations or codes will be given out.
